How to Operate & Change the Bottled Gas (Calor/Flo Gas)

If your campervan or motorhome comes fitted with bottled gas, follow these instructions to top up whilst on the road.

Operating the Valve

  • The circular valve at the top of the bottle is used for opening and closing.

  • To open: Rotate the valve anticlockwise until it no longer turns.

  • To close: Rotate the valve clockwise until it stops turning.

Checking Gas Levels

  • Remove the bottle from its locker.

  • Lift it up and gently sway it side-to-side to sense the gas level inside.

Refilling and Replacing Cylinders

  • Gas cylinders require replacement for refilling.

  • For Mainland Great Britain: Calor is the most common bottled gas you will find in the UK. Use Calor's website to locate a retailer.

  • For Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland: Calor is available, use Calor's website to locate a retailer. Alternatively Flo Gas is a popular brand of bottled gas, you can request a list of suppliers on the Flo Gas website.

Important Notes to Remember

  • Cylinders from Mainland Great Britain and Northern Ireland have different connectors compared to those from the Republic of Ireland.

  • If you plan to travel from Republic of Ireland into Northern Ireland or Mainland Great Britain or vice versa we suggest you stock up on gas before crossing the boarder.
