How to Use the Hob Safely and Effectively

Tips for Proper Ventilation, Ignition, and Gas Supply

  1. Turn On the Gas Start by turning on your gas supply. Turn the brass tap on the bottle anti-clockwise. For detailed instructions, see the article: How to Use and Refill Your LPG (Gas) Bottle.

  2. Ensure Proper Ventilation Before using the hob, make sure a window is open to allow adequate ventilation.

  3. Ignite the Hob

    • Turn and hold the relevant knob.

    • Keep the knob pressed down for 10–15 seconds, then press the ignitor.

    • If the built-in igniter isn’t working, you can use a match or lighter to ignite the hob manually.

  4. Adjust the Flame Once the hob is ignited, use the dial to adjust the flame size as needed.

  5. Cooling Down After Use Allow the rings to cool fully before closing the glass lid to avoid damage or accidents.

To Ensure Gas Supply: You should hear the gas flowing to the rings when the knob is pressed in. If the gas isn't flowing

  • Check the LPG (gas) bottle is turned on.
  • Confirm there is sufficient gas remaining in the bottle.
  • Ensure the gas isolation valve to the hob is in the open position (vertical). The isolation valves are normally found in one of your kitchen cupboards.
