How to Use Your Motorhome's Electric Drop-Down Bed
Easy-to-Follow Guide for a Smooth Experience
If your motorhome is equipped with an electric drop-down bed, you’ll be glad to know it’s simple to use and powered by your 12V leisure battery. Here’s how to operate it effortlessly:
-
Locate the Controls
The button controls for the bed are usually found on the bed frame. If they’re not directly on the frame, check nearby areas for a control panel. Look for a picture of the bed with arrows pointing up and down. -
Lowering the Bed
- Press and hold the down button to smoothly lower the bed into position.
- Before doing so, ensure the area beneath the bed is clear of any obstacles. Common obstructions include items left on furniture or headrests around the dinette table, which may need to be removed.
- A ladder can be found in the cupboard or rear locker to assist with getting in the bed (model dependant).
-
Raising the Bed
- When you’re ready to stow the bed, press and hold the up button until it returns to its original position.
Pro Tip: To keep the system running smoothly, always check your surroundings and remove anything that could interfere with the bed's movement.

What if Something’s Not Working?
If your electric drop-down bed isn’t working using the power buttons, there’s a manual override available on some motorhome models. This override is typically located in one of the cupboards directly beneath the bed, usually the one closest to the bed mechanism. The manual handle needed for this operation is stored in the vehicle’s glove box. Once you’ve retrieved the handle, insert it into the override slot near the bed mechanism and manually wind the bed up or down to your desired position.
